I'd like to talk about these awesome Souvenir Sheets. Today I was reminded about them as one was in today's Kelleher auction, lot 1846 which went on a wild bid ride to $3750! I was expecting a range from $1200-2000, where they seem to have historically traded. This was in the original packaging, which is potentially what excited people about it to easily outpace Scotts valuation.
However, many people also know that this packaging isn't considered archival quality. I guess it's Schrodingers Stamp Sheet inside an unopened package. Certificates do exist for these issues. I have never seen these souvenir pages in hand, only photos online. Specifically, I am referring to Scott 3411,12,13, which apparently have manifested in different error combinations that created minor Scott listings including extra holograms or missing holograms.
Scott on these issues also expresses caution: "Holograms are affixed to sheets with an adhesive, and it may be possible to remove a hologram by dissolving with a solvent"
^ This sounds like a sticker to me.

I am not debating their legitimacy, they just terrify me in so many regards and I have steered clear of picking them up for many reasons. I love the originals as collectible stamp sheets, but feel mixed on how seemingly easy and undetectable alterations could be with regard to already opened packaging.
4081 also is a hologram and has a hologram omitted error.
For completeness on the hologram error topic, there is an envelope U617, but the error associated with that, is the ink removed on the envelop, not the hologram itself, as the hologram is integrated into the envelop.
