This is Saurashtra/Sorath 1886 1A of a Kori yellow green stamp (SG 19) with perf.12, on toned laid paper, printed in typographic process in sheet of 20 (5×4) by Nitiprakash Chhapkhanu, Junagarh.

Vignette:
The central elliptical field shows the inscriptions Sarkar Sorath i.e. Government of Sorath in Urdu.

The upper part of the inner elliptical annulus reads Saurashtra Postage in Devnagari script.

The lower part of the inner elliptical annulus reads Kori no 1 Ano (i.e. 1 Ana of a Kori) in Devnagari script but the language is Gujarati.

In Gujarati, the singular of the currency Ana is called Ano.

Here is an example of commercial use of Sorath 1886 1A SG 19 on a 1901 Una–Junagarh cover, paying 13A postage for 75.79gm (6˝ tola) weight. The intra-state letter rate was 1A for every 5.83gm (˝ tola) from Jan 1,1878 to Aug 31,1907.

Thank you both so much - although I was in India three times on business in the '90s, I don't begin to know any of the languages, even the more common ones ...
