Today I will share another recent find that I acquired at the Iowa City Postcard Show. The card shows the Methodist Church in Penetanguishene, Ontario, Canada postmarked 30 August 1910. The stamp is the common Scott #89 with a perforation error, another addition to my EFO album.

That's my neck of the woods and still a nice little road trip today. I'm guessing they took the train.

I had never heard of Penetanguishene, Ontario, Canada before. I had to look it up on a map. I bought it for the freaky stamp, of course, but only paid 25 cents for the card.

Nice addition for 25c. Speaking of odd or freakish, I have a Scotts 90 here with what looks like a Toronto cancel, but also has a 'D' Duplex and a US Special Delivery. I wish I had the whole envelope to know where it was going and why the combination?

Love the misperf & great little town - a historical Franco-Ontarian settlement - we go camping near there pretty much every year.

Misperfs on cover (card, tag, letter, wrapper, etc.) are good finds.

To the USA with Special Delivery once it gets to the office of delivery. Such mixed franking were allowed.

My stamp actually appears to be the 90bs from a booklet pane, and catalogues 20x higher than the typical copies. How would the original poster pay the additional 10c?

Brought them with him, had them sent to him or it is reported that a very few Canadian offices carried them as a kind service where lots of Yanks were sending mail home.

US Special Delivery stamps on mail originating from other countries with the stamps of other countries (mixed frankings) is a very popular collecting area for US SD cover collectors, collectors of mixed franking covers and collectors of the country in which the mixed franking cover was first mailed.
