Hello,
I inherited a collection of stamps from my father, and would like to have them appraised.

Welcome to the forum. Lots of good and varied advice available. Did your father put a fair amount of money into the collection and what era does it contain? Is it worldwide? Do you know if it contains better single items, mounted in albums or is it a general accumulation in stock books? If you mention your general area of state your located in, someone will give you information to some local dealer, club, or knowledgable person, or auction house. Depending on if you are going to keep the collection and build on it or sell it off.

There are so many variables, and sometimes the time consumed has to be paid for. And obain a few valuations to insure nothing major is missed. Sometime the measure of worth is not in its dollar value, but in its entertainment value to the owner as a hobby! And how do you put a value on that?

Good luck.

Mike

Welcome.
To get the best feedback, it would be helpful if you could post 5-6 representative images of the material you have; this will give the community the best opportunity to provide meaningful advice.

cons,

Did your father have any particular collecting intereses? Do you?

Collecting for the enjoyment of collecting, whatever that might be, is the name of the game. Don't hesitate to ask questions especially if you need basic information and especially more advanced sources of information for any possible topic. You should be able to find folks on this board a little further along on their collecting journey glad to share experiences. Russ
