Chambers Lodge (McKinney) is an unincorporated community in Placer County, California. Chambers Lodge is located on Lake Tahoe, 1.25 miles southeast of Homewood. It lies at an elevation of 6237 feet.

The McKinney post office opened in 1884, changed the name to Chambers Lodge in 1928, and closed for good in 1959. The name McKinney honored John McKinney who settled there in 1864. The name Chambers Lodge honored David H. Chambers who built a lodge at the site in 1928.

Tahoe City (Tahoe) is an unincorporated town in Placer County, California. Tahoe City is located on the shore of Lake Tahoe, at the outlet of the Truckee River.

The site was surveyed in 1863, and Tahoe House was built in 1864. The Tahoe post office opened in 1871, closed for a period in 1896, and changed its name to Tahoe City in 1949.

Post Card War Rate of 2 cents (Nov.2, 1917) had returned to 1 cent on July 1, 1919.

My two Aunts (Valina and Charlotte) received the cards.

Pretty cool!

I love the Tahoe area. Used to camp around there as a kid. Once was digging my feet in the sand on the Lake Tahoe shore and found a 1947 Silver 50c piece! The lake is one of the clearest I have seen.

I like that the McKinney postmark is also purple. Thanks for sharing.
