@rodgcam:

I trust you don't collect Giovanni de Sperati items nor would want any "postal history" from the 1944 Operation Cornflakes; but folks do.

17 bidders, 38 bids sold 4 April 2021 on eBay for BBP 255.00 (US $360.17) with free shipping. It is one of the over $3200.00 in sold listings on eBay for Sperati material in the last 90 days.

For sure there are specific forgers who are collected, and who's work brings real money. This is NOT one of them.

Did anyone here see the error ahead of time and let nystamps know? Sometimes a person will let me know if I posted an item that is sound but is reperfed, or not the correct state catalog number and change it right away. I would hope that more sellers do that than not!

Just noticed this old post. Some counterfeits carry a decent price but this one is not listed n the catalog. IN any case, it's too much to pay. Had I seen this I would have messaged the seller just to see the reaction.

The counterfeits listed in the catalog are contemporary counterfeits meant to deceive the postal (or other) authorities, not modern fakes meant to fool stamp collectors.
