Do you have any recomendations for scanner software?
My needs is to scan 20+ stamps at a time, and automatically crop each stamp including the perforation.
I tried Vuescan, but it is not working 100%.
I read about one other made for stamps, but it was made with Java, and that do not work any more..

Or any other tips and tricks for scanning 10s of thousands of stamps?

You could try PMGS StampFix, available at Postmaster's web site https://www.germanstamps.net/, under PMGS Products. It doesn't scan, but separates/crops an already scanned image into individual ones, one for each stamp.

Just ask here if you get stuck,

I am well over 12,000 stamps, finished with "stampfix"
So good, I donate every year.

I prefer "in your face" images, so I set out 30 stamps on my scanner platen, use a carousel around 4 to 6 stamps maximum,
scan at 600 dpi.

Then run them through "stampfix" which takes seconds, to spit them out deskewed, with a user defined border.

It's magic !

It's my 3rd most used program in Philately, after XYPlorer, and ACDSee 3.0

I had at one time 350 "Somali Coast" stamps scanned 10 years ago,
all wonky, different dpi. some with bits of adjoining perf from adjacent stamps.
They were horrible.

Ran them through "stamp fix" took about 40 minutes.
Now they are ordered and handsome.

"Stampfix" is very fragile with images that have sundry colours, chads, etc in the stamp image.
If you have a speck of dust on the platen, or a hair etc, it will pick that up, and alter the deskew.

If your stamp has a long perf tooth, again it will alter the
border.
That is no problem, and takes seconds to manually recrop, the occasional hiccup.

I have used several scanner software packages in the past but recently I have just used the twain scanning routine from HP. I scan a 13" x 18" platter full at a time in high resolution (huge file size!) and then I use Adobe Photoshop CS4 and/or 6 to bulk parse images of the stamps, covers or other into separate files. Photoshop can/does correct rotation and everything else that I need it to do. Once you have the routine down it can be quick and easy. If you're so inclined you can also script for automation.

I have used it for years, already have it and know it but a disadvantage for a new or inexperienced users can be the learning curve for Adobe products.

For working with scans after the fact, I also like MS Picture Manager (from office 2010), which has been removed from recent versions of office but last time I looked can still be downloaded and reinstalled. It's small, light weight and easy to use. For bulk file renaming I use "Bulk Rename Utility" (google it.) Other tools I use are "DupDetector", "A-PDF Thumbnailer" and "Batch Watermark Creator" depending on the task at hand I also have a hand full of other "tools". Again, I have used these for a long time for other purposes.

After more hours searching, and too many hours trying, I finally found this: *** Edited by Staff - Link removed, blocked by Malwarebytes ***
It is perfect plugin and receipee for scanning stamps. (Atleast for my use).
It can quickly batch scan 20 stamps in one, and the settings was not too difficult.

I've never felt the need for an app that does it all, end-to-end. I scan a page of stamps into Corel PhotoPaint using TWAIN. Then it's:
- select an area
- copy and paste as new image
- de-skew
- crop
And that's it.

This gives me all of the control I want without those horrible "well that didn't work" moments.
