Fact and fiction. Quite an interesting story.

(Not far from Vallejo)
"Once in California, the Mon Lei actually made it to the expo­sition, albeit by accident. After visiting the paying public up and down the California coast, she was sailing on San Pablo Bay, near Oakland, in blustery weather and got lost. Seeking haven in Richmond, she ended up in the Port of the Trade Winds, on Treasure Island, where she fouled a Pan-American flying-boat mooring. Not quite an official visit, then."

I beleive the autograph is Rene Crosby Monteith
