I do not have a lot of success expanding my Spanish Morocco revenue stamp collection. They are seldom for sale. However the next best thing is collecting revenue stamps overprinted and or surcharged for postal use. TANGIER, although Tangier was not part of Spanish Morocco, it was located inside the Spanish Protectorate. Spanish Morocco revenues overprinted for postal use Spanish revenues overprinted for use in Spanish Morocco, postal giro and telegraph use When I buy stamps on eBay I will always look at the other items the seller use in order to try to minimize shipping costs.. Below is a Pro-tuberculosos set of 1953, nothing to do with what I collect, but looks very interesting

Per the Barefoot Catalogue "Telegraph Stamps of the World" (2013), which updates the long out-of-date Hiscock's "Telegraph & Telephone Stamps of the World" (1982), this is Barefoot #13a 30c lilac overprinted horizontally in blue, bisected on piece. Catalog value 20 UKP as such. |

Rod, Looking at the half stamp on piece, it is not stationary, but I believe, its a piece of telegram. Inside the Tetuan cancellation is I think a signature. This stamp came in an eBay lot of which 2 Giro stamps , cancelled Larache 1921 are shown in my post above yours. I paid $3 for the lot of 3 stamps. |

Thank you gentlemen ! That was exciting whilst it lasted. Quote: Per the Barefoot Catalogue "Telegraph Stamps of the World" (2013), which updates the long out-of-date Hiscock's "Telegraph & Telephone Stamps of the World" (1982), this is Barefoot #13a 30c lilac overprinted horizontally in blue, bisected on piece. Catalog value 20 UKP as such. Fabulous information Shall save on my Album Page. Not sure when Byrum created his catalogue, assume around 1950's BAREFOOT"This new catalogue lists telegraph and telephone stamps of the whole world, by country. It is the successor to the old Hiscocks catalogue of 1982. It lists all regular stamps, both those issued by national post offices and those produced by private companies (but does not include prepaid stationery for telegrams, nor telegram seals). It does include telephone stamps, e.g. those of Canada, Great Britain, India-Patiala, Belgium, France etc. In the catalogue, virtually all items are illustrated in full colour, some sections much expanded since Hiscocks, with up-to-date pricing for mint and for used."--Publisher description. |

Jos, my opinion is the piece is postally used, not telegram (Machine cancellation) |

Just acquired the stamps below on eBay total costs $0.12 plus $2 shipping. There seems to be no correlation with the catalog value Tanger - Beneficiencia - Edifil 35/40 y 41/46 - Usado - Catalogo 240,00€ This are 2 sets, can be found listed on eBay between $8-$50 Huerfanos de telegrafos Espana, Tanger Office. Huerfanos means Orphans. So these stamps seem to be for the benefit of orphans of telegraph workers. I do not have the Edifil catalog. Questions, were these stamps supposed to be used on telegraph forms? What is the issuing date? Any other info welcome Thanks |

Can you offer a link to that eBay listing. Working blind is difficult. I have come across numerous Spanish Charity stamps/seals they abound on the internet. I have always seen advertised as Charity. Some examples from my lot. Note : Apologies, the Melilla and Ceuta were Opts on a differing label Perhaps mentioned / listed in GALVEZ? |

Thanks Jos. What that demands, is we see the suggested EDEFIL listing in black and white. Personally, I think that is crazy, they are charity stamps, never seen them listed in World Telegraph stamps. I shall entertain an open mind, as I have been incorrect before, but gee ...240 euros I'll check my database, I think I have seen a set with MUESTRA sell for $50. |
