I'm finished breaking up a large lot of British Commonwealth classic era stamps. Having removed those stamps I need for my collection, I'm starting to list the rest in my HipStamp store and came across this Gold Coast Scott 73.
I'm using a rather dated Scott Classic Catalogue (2008) which also serves as my checklist. Scott lists the year of issue for this stamp as 1915 in my catalogue, but as can be seen in the scan, the cds clearly reads '1914.' Could anyone with a recent Classic Catalogue be so kind as to check this stamp out to see if the date of issue has been revised?
Assuming a clerk didn't put the wrong slug into the cds, this might end up being an EKU, so I would want to alert the Scott editors.

Gibbons shows purple/yellow, 8/15, with white back, 9/13, on orange-buff, 1919, on pale yellow, 1919.

I love the way the postmark has placed a crown on his head.

My 2006 Gibbons show this stamp as an August 1915 issue.

Thanks, folks. I'm guessing since there's a year's disparity between the issue date and the cds that its most likely a clerk slug error, but I'll send it off to Scotts to see what they think.

But does your stamp have a white back, i.e., is it surface colored only? GeoffHa has observed (and my copy of Gibbons concurs) that in that case the date of issue would be Sep., 1913.

Suggestion.

Postmark CHAMAH Gold Coast (Crown in Centre)
24th December 1910 to 16th Feb 1924 (Proud)

Maybe a slight difference, apparently missing the Fleuron betwixt GOLD and COAST

Must be a smudge.
