Hi,
Is it ok to Scan collection of Singles, Strips, Sheets, S.V.
all with Protector sheet and or Stock sheets. My collection is
arranged in Protector sheet, Stock sheet nicely arranged into.
Should one take out and scan without or it is ok to do with
Stock sheets, and protector sheets. These are from 1971 to 2019
years. your opinion please.

Thanks in advance

Cheers

My preference would be to scan the stock sheet only without the protector sheet. Depending on the quality of your scanner, you should end up with a nice, crisp image.

Sure you can. What is the intent of your scan? It is for using to inventory, sell, other? For high value items for sell, you may want to remove it for best clarity.

An example

If the the stamp is completely under the protective pocket, like Angore's example, it is fine. Personally, if the stamps stick out above the top of the pocket, I think it is better to take them out of the stock sheet (or buy a better fitting stock sheet). I find the line of the top of the pocket to be distracting in so many scans/photos.

Is the OP asking about a protector sheet that a stock page is inserted in to, or the protective pocket attached to a stocksheet?
I'm a little unclear on what is being asked.

If the question is scanning a stamp in a protective pocket attached to a stocksheet, of course it can be scanned that way. That's usually how it is done...

If the question is to remove a protective sheet containing a stocksheet before scanning, yes, I would remove it first - if it is not attached. The less plastic between the scanner and the stocksheet, the better.

My method is to use Vario-Plus stockpages for scanning purposes (they are thicker than regular Varios). The stamp(s) to be scanned should fit completely in the row of the stockpage, to avoid the line mentioned above. I would also always use black backed stocksheets for this purpose - it makes the perforations stand out.

@John, angore, wkusau millions of thanks. Collection of USA is in e.g
single, Pair, Plain block, MI and Zip Blocks, Strips, Line strips,
Half Sheet and Full Sheets all mints (MNH). About 50 years. I am Using
Acid and lignin free archival quality Papers, Stock sheets and Protector
sheet. After finishing India Collection of >70 yrs. I am starting. Tough most of these are in Appropriate Locations. For documentation and
aeration purpose I dared to go slowly. Had to ask other for nice
and correct method. Sometime will load some of stuff. I like agore
method very much with short tags.
You are such a wonderful person. Explained me very nicely. Again
millions thanks. Such a wonderful Forum.

Cheers
