A man is listening to his daughter pray one night.

The daughter says, "God bless mommy, God bless daddy, God bless Grandma, and goodbye grandpa!" The dad asks her, "Why did you say goodbye grandpa?" She replies, "I don't know, it just felt right." The next morning the grandpa sadly dies.

The man rubs it off as a coincidence and listens to her pray again that night. She says, "God bless mommy, God bless daddy, and goodbye grandma!" The next morning the grandma dies. The father is astonished at the special power her daughter has and listens once again that night. She says, "God Bless mommy, Goodbye daddy!" All night the father is scared and can't sleep. He decided that if he stays up until midnight he should be fine. The next morning after the all nighter his wife asks him, "Why do you look so tired?" He replied, "I pulled an all nighter."

She replies, "My morning was terrible too. A few minutes ago, the mailman dropped dead on the front porch."

A woman leaves her shower
She is wrapped up in her towel and as she walks past her husband who is going into the shower they hear a knock at the door.
"You go get that" her husband says and hops into the shower.

Sighing the woman went to the door still wrapped in her towel. She opens the door and their mailman Jake, who lives next door, is standing there. He hands her the mail and they stare at each other for a few seconds when Jake smiles and says "I'll pay you 800 dollars to drop that towel".

Thinking for a second the woman drops her towel. Jake looks for a minute, pays her 800 dollars, and then leaves.

The woman goes back past the bathroom when her husband calls out: "Hey honey, who was at the door?"

"Oh just Jake" she answers

"Oh, Great!" Her husband replied. "Did he give you the 800 dollars he owes me?"

From the inaugural issue of 'The American Stamp Mercury', October 1867. Perhaps this gets filed under 'contemporaneous humor'?

Tried this one out last weekend at my local stamp club meeting during a Swiss stamp presentation...

'Yes, I like collecting Switzerland. The country has a lot going for it, even their flag is a big plus.'

Collector #1: Hey I think I have a 3c 1851-57 Plum

Collector #2: Is it previously identified by Chase, Amonette or DeVere Card et al.?!

Collector #1: Uh I don't think so, why?

Collector #2: Hahahahaha

Hmm perhaps a little better wording:

A guy walks into a post office and tells the clerk: I'd like to gift someone a 5c stamp but scratch off the price please

Some are hilarious now; they remind me of when I was a young 'un.
