I like how the topic of Rattlesnake Island keeps coming back up through the years on SCF.
Below are some different posts I found interesting and relating to this.http://goscf.com/t/2879https://www.stampcommunity.org/topi...PIC_ID=10947http://goscf.com/t/2587http://goscf.com/t/74039
I will add these entries for the history of the island, and an update to the eventual closing of the island post. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rattl..._(Lake_Erie)http://www.rattlesnakeislandclub.co...=80709&vnf=1
I like this card for a few reasons, the obvious being the neat Rattlesnake Island Local post
usage on card.
More so as it fits into my Postal Card collection.
It fits into a very narrow rate period reduction (3½ months) from the 8¢ rate (Mar.2,1974), reduced to 7¢ (Sep.14, 1975, then up to 9¢ (Dec.31, 1975)
From the American Philatelist. An article by Wayne Youngblood.http://digital.ipcprintservices.com...ticleBrowser
Some may argue that it is only a philatelic inspired oddity, but I look at this one as a correct rate in period valid commercial business usage.
Best to all,
