Postal Card: Rattlesnake Island Useage And Reduced Post Card Rate.

I like how the topic of Rattlesnake Island keeps coming back up through the years on SCF.

I like this card for a few reasons, the obvious being the neat Rattlesnake Island Local post usage on card.

More so as it fits into my Postal Card collection.

It fits into a very narrow rate period reduction (3½ months) from the 8¢ rate (Mar.2,1974), reduced to 7¢ (Sep.14, 1975, then up to 9¢ (Dec.31, 1975)

Some may argue that it is only a philatelic inspired oddity, but I look at this one as a correct rate in period valid commercial business usage.

Hello Pat, and anyone interested in Rattlesnake Island Local Post,
A relaunch of the RILP is in the works. The First Day of Issue for the
triangle stamps is Nov. 10, 2022. The mail will once again be flown to
the original airfield on State RD. in Port Clinton such was done from 1966-1989. Griffing Flying Service no longer operates out of Sandusky as they did during the 2005-2010 RILP issues. Rattlesnake Island still does
not have mail service from the USPS, despite the other 3 neighboring Bass Islands do. So the topic of RILP should be coming up even more.

Took Dave up on his offer. Happy with what was sent & here is what I got.

About what I would have spent for a Starbuck's coffee and a cookie. (This was better spent) I hope somewhere in the (far) future, someone will be happy to find the card in a remaindered-out box lot. Which is where I found my previous card shown.
