This 30 pf value (Mi #182) from Bavaria's 1920 "Farewell" series depicts an allegorical figure (Electricity) lighting the realm with a lantern inscribed in a glowing octagon. The 20, 30, and 40pf values of the series use this image.

On September 9, 1964 Japan issued its Tokyo Summer Olympic Games II set of 5 stamps. Here is the 5 yen value (Sc #821) of the set showing a stylized olympic flame.

This 50c value (SG #157) of Singapore is from the August 9, 1971 set of four Singapore Festival stamps. Stamp depicts a boy and girl celebrating Deepavali, or Diwali (modern pronunciation. Deepavali is the Festival of Lights (triumph of good over evil) celebrated by Hindus, Jains, Sikhs and some Buddhists.

This Japan 1992 Yamaguchi Prefecture stamp depicts the lantern festival held annually on the 7th of July (lunar calendar).

On November 1, 1991 Finland issued this 1.80 markka, discount 1st class domestic rate stamp (Facit #1157) for use on Christmas cards mailed between December 1-15. Stamp depicts Santa Claus leading a candlelight parade through the snow.

From Facit, "The sale at post offices ceased from 16th December 1991".
