It looks to me like the bottom has been trimmed?

Oh yes. Plate #'s and other information trimmed off at printer. Regular sheets trimmed for use at post offices for stock.

Your sheet of Scott 1205 was printed from plates 27301, 27306, 27311, 27314, 27325 and 27330.

Trimmed at right, not bottom.
