Scott type O1, DDR, these stamps in the Scott catalogue should be under the heading German Democratic Republic - Issued Under Russian Occupation, right??

The Scott O1, Arms of the Republic, stamp was issued in 1954. The DDR became an independent country in 1949, ending the Russian Occupation.

Experienced stamps need a home too. I'd rather have an example that is imperfect than no example.

Thanks. I was confused as I have a Germany page in Big Blue which has "Germany - Occupation Official Stamps, Issued Under Russian Occupation, 1954-55" and right under that are the O1-O17, Type O1 Arms of the Republic stamps. And in my Scott catalogue, 2019 issue, the listening is split between 2 pages but the 2nd page header only reads German Democratic Republic - Issued Under Russian Occupation starting with O18-O27, Type O1 Arms of the Republic.

Am I missing something ? Tks Dan.

How old is the Big Blue? You may be seeing some Cold War politics leaking onto that page, as it were.

after re-re-reading the catalogue page, the header is right - split between DDR and Issued Under Russian Occupation. But the Big Blue I think is a typo. Thank your right Classic. Heres a bad pic of the page - should not read Issued under Russian Occupation, right? The album is the '40-'49 referencing the 1950 catalogue. Info taken from album 1st page.

Right, that page is a typo. The stamps shown, the officials and part of the five-year plan issues were all issued by the DDR.
IMHO, Scott's treatment of post-war German stamps is a mess. I use Michel.

Was driving me nuts. I did however come across an older post here with some good details on these stamps.

Stamps4Life,

Yes, that was a good thread to show some of the complexities of the DDR officials. They can make interesting collecting.

If you are going to go collect this series in-depth Scott is a no-go. Here is a "cheat sheet" to get you started. The website this page came from is unfortunately no longer in existence.

And to go even further here is a reference, available from the APS library.
