I wonder if anyone can help shed some light on the KGV Halfpenny stationery stamps? Am I correct in thinking the images below, borrowed from t'internet, not mine, are the only issues of said stamp, or are there variations? I know of the halfpenny stamp issued with the Downey head, then the Bertram head was used for when it changed to the One Penny stamp. I have one which is different to any I can find reference to. Many thanks.

Edit to clarify;
I was meaning to refer to the outer design, not the fact the Bertram head was used only for the One Penny change.
The Downey head sits within one design, whereas the Bertram head has a different design on the halfpenny stamp.
Thanks. |

I am not fully sure what your question is.
Your cut-out (i.e., not a stamp) is one that uses the three-quarters Downey Head. Your stamp is a Mackennal. Those exist on papers with three different watermarks. They also come in photogravure print with a solid background.
The corresponding Downey Head stamp (not cut-out) exists on two watermarks, from two dies, with one subtype. This has the head from your cut-out in a frame similar to that of your Mackennal stamp. |

I am a tad confused with what you actually seek.
INLAND POSTCARDS
The halfpenny Downey exists 1911 size 2 in thin paper postcard 1911 size 1 in thick paper postcard
1916 size type 3 (KGV) size 2 in thin paper 1917 ditto no size offered thick paper
Brightmore Page 16 Cat date unknown ALL ARE FORMAT C
The 1911 Format C, are in further formats REPLY and REPLY CARD
Printer for all : McCorquodale
Downey Head also exists as a STO (stamped to order) halfpenny green 1913 Format C

A picture would probably put an end to the guessing?

Indeed, apologies for the confusion, I confused myself which is why I tried to clarify with an edit, unsuccessfully!
They are not stamps. They are Stationery stamps.
You will see two different heads, and two different background designs.
Simply put, are the two pictured above the sole designs for this stationery stamp, or are there others, whereby the second pictured head was used in the first pictured background design? |

Yes and No
Yes the second head KGV was used in the Downey Frame BUT not as a halfpenny
Halfpennies can only be Inland usage, or make up.

This is my Stationery Stamp. As you can see, the head and background design combination is different to any I can find reference to. |

Thanks for clearing that up.
Sorry if the copyright caused any sick, I hope you didn't get it over your keyboard, it is force of habit I'm afraid.
Many thanks. |

Thanks for the Image Don I was having trouble with Brightmore and a column "Reply paid issue" If these were reply paid at halfpenny, then the first post was a farthing |

So having looked into it, it appears that this design was only used for 'Reply Paid' rather than postage. Glad to have cleared that up.
Many thanks '51Studebacker' for that image. |
