Nothing here
Appears to be a box type with date below? "26 2"
Nothing in "Askphil"
Only "Mezinarodni" (International Reply Card)

Some boxed here, no MEZ...
http://www.austrianphilately.com/pa...en/index.htm

There is a similar type, possibly here
(Very Last Image at bottom of page)

This is a 3-section box, code K3, with sanserif type, date in the middle, and counter letter with stars in the bottom.

Cannot see any that are "Serrifed"

A very long shot:

An English translation of a Hungarian account of Napoleon's Italian campaign:
https://www.wikipe.wiki/wiki/hu/It%...2%80%931797)

This appears to be a tramslation of this Hungarian wikipedia page
https://hu.wikipedia.org/wiki/It%C3...2%80%931797)

In the latter, there is mention of the "Battle of Millesimo" where this is the "Battle of Mezimo" in the former.

Could it be that Millesimo was called Mezimo at some point?

Mezinarodny/mezdunarodni is Slav for "between nations," i.e., international.

Thanks to you all for taking the trouble to help. Where would I be without this Forum?

Nigel's guess fits so well (time and place) that I'd have to think it probable. How in the world did you find it? I'd spent hours searching and never came across it.

I was drawn to NSK's discovery of the English translation of the Hungarian description of Napoleon's Italian campaign, since Austria was involved in northern Italy during WWI (when my stamp could've been used). But couldn't figure why the translator had come up with that spelling. The Hungarian has Millesimo, and no other source that I could find refers to the battle site as Mezimo.

MEZIMESTI or MEZIMOSTI ?
German : HALBSTADT

I'd suggest it is a Klein type K2 or K3 postmark.

Mesimesti in Czechia

Mezimostí and Mezim#283;stí are two different places.

Mezimostí was the twin town of Veselí and now Mezimostí is part of the town of Veselí nad Lužnicí (49.1865°N 14.6992°E), okres Tábor, Jiho#269;eský kraj, #268;eská Republika.

Mezim#283;stí (50.6246°N 16.2421°E) on the other hand, is 287km NNE of Veselí nad Lužnicí. It is now located in okres Náchod, Královéhradecký kraj, #268;eská Republika.
