That third stamp reads"Consejo Gral de Colegios Farmaceuticos de España / Colegio de Huerfanos": General Council of Pharmaceutical Colleges of Spain / Primary school for College of orphans" Engraving by one of the Sánchez Toda brothers. I found a reference CB-195(?). Fundraising stamps (sellos recaudatorios) of said council for said school college for orphans' benefits and later also widows' benefits. I have not discovered wether obligatory or voluntary. Knock yourself out! (Might need Google translate, a bottle of something, and some good cheese.) http://www.filaposta.com/foro/viewtopic.php?t=8964Edit: pages 5 and 6 might be of interest to your particular subject. Edit 2: It appears the stamps were introduced in 1942. They relate to pharmacists fallen during the civil war. |

So it is the General Council of Pharmaceutical Colleges (not to be confused with a school or university college, but more a governing body) that issued these stamps to raise funds for its College of Orphans (again a governing body). The College of Orphans was responsible for the administration of the benefits for orphans and widows of fallen pharmacists.
Maybe listed in the 'Beneficios' section of the EDIFIL catalogue (CB maybe colegios beneficios?). |

Rod, this is the catalog I have. But, be warned, it isn't cheap. I bought mine almost 2 years ago and it was over US$100 with shipping. It is the most I've paid for a single reference book. It looks like the Edifil site has them for 82€. |

See the link I provided on the previous page. The €82 is for the luxury ('lujo') edition. The normal edition costs €70. The site does not say what the 'lujo' adds. |

Edifil catalogues aren't cheap, but are offering free shipping anywhere on orders over €150. Just ordered 2 more volumes from them. |

The dangers of the holidays, free time, enticing books and the "pay now" icon. I've bought several volumes in the last week (cheap and cheerful, and none of them about stamps, though). |

Yep! I'm a sucker for buying catalogues - used to work in catalogue publishing, so appreciate a well-designed & informative one. |

Quote: The dangers of the holidays, free time, Rather than going through a catalogue of Spanish stamps, I will be going through Spain. |

1939 -1949 Franco Varieties. Do any members have the "without imprint" (Sanchez Toda) with Perf guaging of 10 From the gadzillions of Franco's I have, I have yet to find one. (Are they considered scarce?) Also, anyone know why the Prefix "Prussian" is allocated to some colours of Blue and Green ? What did Prussia have, to give them differing shades? The right hand 40c is "Prussian green" |

Rod.
Prussian Green also known as Brunswick Green. Believe the color can be traced to Brunswick (annexed by Prussia).
Has a yellow undertone. |
