I will have new page in my WW collection as of tonight ,
Barbados was a British Colony until 1966 ,when it became a Independent country ,now it will not be under the Crown and will be called the Republic of BARBADOS. Waiting for the first postage stamp .
But presumably Barbados will not leave the British Commonwealth which already ha a member republic - the Republic of South Africa. And the Queen is head of the commonwealth.
Unless there is a name change, I doubt we will see a new Scott number 1 stamp. I do not collect modern but did check Scott and appears Barbados had a fairly conservative stamp issuing policy.
I signed up for new issues from the Barbados Post Office back in 2000, and have been very satisfied with their service. Not a lot of "wallpaper" stamps, so my account deposits last many years. Each set of stamps comes with a nice tri-fold brochure describing the topics, printing methods and printers, etc. Very worthwhile to me.
