Going through a mint bunch of the King Edward 10c. Both Scott & Unitrade distinguish between brown lilac and dull lilac shades.
So I made an attempt to sort them - darker/more brown at top to less at bottom, and the scanned result is below. As you can see, my visual sorting leave something to be desired (e.g. second row, 5th stamp). It seems more like a continuum from more brown in the lilac to less brown than two distinct shades. Anyways, thought it made an interesting illustration of shades & their variability in the eye of the beholder vs. the "eye" of the scanner...
