Dan Undersander provides the following opinion:

"I would consider it a die 143. In spite of the other differences, The head width is a fairly clear diagnostic."

Thats what I thought, head size wins! So it is a Die 143 on a K79 and so uncommon?

Die 143 on Knife 79 is not currently listed in the hard copy of the UPSS catalog nor is it listed in the UPSS penalty overprint catalog. Thomas Galloway, who has been participating in this thread, is the editor of the UPSS penalty overprint catalog. Dan undersander is the editor of the UPSS 20th century (and other) catalog. Either an APEX certificate or physical examination of your item should be required for future catalog listing.
