Bibliography On Stamp Paper

Then it gets deeper, depending on the country, the paper makers etc

An excellent exposition on the manufacture of stamp paper is in Melville's "Postage Stamps in the Making". For something a bit more USA-specific, I recommend "Fundamentals of Philately" by L.N. and M. Williams. Both books go into the techniques for distinguishing the different paper types.
