Hello everybody, I hope this post finds you well and healthy. Please advise me on bibliography regarding kinds of paper, particularly when dealing with classical stamps. If this has been covered elsewhere, my apologies and please redirect? Thanks! Vicente

Not aware how deep you want to go.
Best overall Catalogue for general infomation
is United States, Samuel Grossman "stamp collector's handbook"
It is a cracker for the newbie (myself included)
Price...circa $4 -$10 ?

Basics
Onionskin
Wove Paper
Horizontally Laid paper
Vertically laid paper
Granite paper
Quadrille paper
Oblong quadrille
Laid Batonne

Then it gets deeper, depending on the country, the paper makers etc
Watermarks, wet print dry print.

An excellent exposition on the manufacture of stamp paper is in Melville's "Postage Stamps in the Making". For something a bit more USA-specific, I recommend "Fundamentals of Philately" by L.N. and M. Williams. Both books go into the techniques for distinguishing the different paper types.

Hi, many thanks! Melville is what I am looking for. Anyone has a copy, or any ideas where to find it, please?

Yours!

Vicente

Yes, I have it,
albeit the Rewritten and completed, by John Easton.
