It seems everything is in order (file name, type and size) but I keep getting this error message:

There is a problem with the file you are attempting to upload.

Filename: haiti.jpg File names must use only valid characters
Extension: .jpg Certain file extensions are not accepted
Size 290.78 KB File sizes must be under 300kb
Go back to try again.

I experience that as well. If the image optimiser shows a size just under 300kb, it might actually be a little bigger.

My experience has been that the limit in real life has been under 200KB. With reduced size it has worked.

From my experience it 'says 300' but 'means 250'.

thanks, everyone.
Off-topic - I wonder how the error that allowed only 288.59 KB was made. I assumed that 300 KB was put as limit value, how was it translated to 288.59 KB?

Rod, I do agree with you. As I recall, anytime I used it, it always made me go down under 200kb or it would not allow it to be uploaded. 300kb now, great! More detailed, images if they use a scanner!
