Hi again. Still going through albums of stamps and this caught my eye. Paper is almost silky and shiny, a really cool stamp. Cancel is July 1889. The interesting thing to me is the fold in upper right corner. Obviously it was there at cancel time. The interesting part to me at least is the picture doesn't make sense. If you "unfolded" (which I'm not going to do to a stamp that has managed to stick around for 132 years!) the edge which I still can't determine is even "doable" the perforations are positioned on the wrong side of "other" stamp I think. Or at best the perforations won't line up with this stamp. As with most of my questions there is probably an easy explanation so thanks in advance! Ed

I believe that what you are seeing is what is left of another stamp that was adhered next to your stamp when they were on the original cover.

I agree with rogdcam. Your stamp has black vertical line underprint. The 'folded corner' doesn't have it. Therfore it comes from different stamp. You can also check what you can see if you try to shine light through that folded corner.

I wonder what the other stamp could be. Maybe an earlier "letter" set with colored values, where the underprint was smoother? Maybe the 1875 set?

I'm chuckling to myself. Yea it's another stamp that was on the original cover next to it. Now looking at it the correct way it appears to be a different stamp since no vertical lines. Thanks for the help!! Ed
