So I was looking through eBay to try and find things that I might be able to trade for stamps I need for my front of book album. I came across this stampless cover and bought it. I don't collect stampless covers, but I thought it was interesting because it was dated 1858. It is from St. John's New Brunswick. I don't have it yet, but here is a screenshot of it on eBay.
Nice cover - In 1858 New Brunswick was an independent province and did not become part of Canada until 1867. The postage rate to/from the United States was 10 cents paid or unpaid. Note the city is St. John and not St. John's.

These are often referred to as 'cross-border' covers, in the US/British North America (BNA) postal history collecting vernacular. The correspondence between the US to and from Canada and Provinces.
