Hi friends, 61 years ago at the impressionable age of 13 I found an old stamp collection in my grandparent's attic. It was my uncle's collection and when he came home, he sat with me to turn the pages and show me his stamps. Some old stamps and then a block of 4 all the same but he said one of them was different. I could not see it. So he showed me a teardrop on the young queen 1c stamp. (Unitrade Scott #211i) "Weeping queen" Then he pointed to another block of 4 and same scenario, I could not find the flaw but there it was 3c blue (208ii "Scarface") This precious short visit (I did not get the stamps), was a launching pad for a lifetime of looking for the unusual in modern Canadian mint stamps. (about 1970 to 2000) So I collect Canadian errors, flaws, varieties, weird, unusual and sometimes unexplainable little mistakes. I'm always trying to solve a little mystery. Thank you.

bk80, Collecting for the enjoyment of collecting, whatever that might be, is the name of the game. Don't hesitate to ask questions especially if you need basic information and especially more advanced sources of information for any possible topic. You should be able to find folks on this board a little further along on their collecting journey glad to share experiences. Russ |

Welcome - I also have a copy of the Canadian Philatelic EFOs, Darnell 3rd Edition under my arm. I sometimes go out of my way to find strange stuff but not always. I have a wonderful copy of 223iv that I'm pleased with. More like a variety than EFO, but cool. |

Thank you for the kind welcoming comments. To ladygrace: I started posting some of the most unusual items I have found. It's in a Canadian thread about Efos on this forum. http://goscf.com/t/79915Always much to learn. |

To Casey Magoo, I've never come across 223iv. Great item. To Going Postal, I've been lucky at finding unusual stuff but I never had the money for the big ticket items like inverts, fully missing colors etc... Yet when a person is consistent and persistent sometimes something happens to make you shake. But for me its now about finding out about the causes of problems. I keep learning as much as I can. |

Thank you Bujutsu, My difficulty at this time is in not quite knowing where to post with questions. I am slowly learning to do this by trial and error. For example I have some questions about printing processes for certain Canadian stamps, specifically for booklet 80 (hence BK80). So now I am reading as many posts in the "stamp production process" forum to learn as much as I can absorb. Many thanks for the welcome. |
