The scandal went on, out of sight of the Public. Good reliable deliveries were better than they had been for a long time.

The financial position of Royal Mail is not very good either.

This is not a problem unique to the UK. PostNL has been doing a little better transforming its business, but even the parcel delivery business remains under pressure.

Royal Mail and its various parts - Parcel Force - seem entirely incapable of managing their business. The idea that they're going to be more parcel-orientated sits oddly with their chronic understaffing of Parcel Force over recent years. They can't even manage to kit out their drivers with branded vans, in my area at least.

On Monday just gone I received a letter from the UK that was 53 days in transit.

Nice to know what it feels like to live in the 1870s.........
