hello, good morning from the Netherlands.
I am looking for help, I have 3 different Lykens, PA covers with this ornamented circular date stamp. showing is the nicest one.
I am trying to make a consensus and do a write up about this one. the ones I have are all 1858 or un date able and to the same reciever. it has rarity factor 7 (7 to 10 recorded) in Simpson's book , none in SAN and Siegel sold the last one in 1963
i am looking for anyone that has, or has had, a cancellation like this and is willing to share a scan (or sell)
and if anyone has any other info that would be great as well.
besides this I am looking for Lykens PA covers with various cancellations, up to 1900, same thing scans and/or willing to sell.
thank you in advance.
jasper
i am excited, never tried to make a consensus or write up.....

interesting that chase shows it as closed ornaments and simpson has them lined as my example. I do see on one of my other covers that over inking makes them look closed. or perhaps there is 2 different ones.

You might want to contact the curator of the postmark museum and library, Gary Hendren, and see what they have in their collection.

Experienced stamps need a home too. I'd rather have an example that is imperfect than no example.
I collect for enjoyment, not investment.

Two other resources are the US Philatelic Classics Society and Richard Frajola's discussion forum.

Also, to assist indexing in this forum and for correctness, and not as a criticism, the proper word for your project is a "census" of the known covers, rather than "consensus". I hope you do publish an article in the future.
