Help With Understanding

Apparently I'm not understanding something and I'm curious if someone could shed some light for me.
I thought I had figured it out but I guess not.

What does this mean?

It indicates the type of variety. For sheet printed in the normal direction and sheets printed in inverted direction, the pin that shows the error will be # of pins - pin nr. that shows the error.

Also, since normally a row of stamps will have southeast corner letters A to L, the inverted perforation will pass through the perforator L to A.

Your blue line is for the 1d red catalogued in SG's specialised volume 1, under C3. On sheets perforated normally, the 14 gauge stamp with southeast corner letter L has a variety nr. 11 that affects the 13th pin.

Sheets perforated inverted will show the variety on stamp A in the row (as that will be at the left side), and affecting pin 1 (as there are 13 pins in total and the 13th pin will be the first) when looked at the stamp in upright position.

It is known to occur on stamps from the 10 plates listed.

OK, I was just pulling your leg. But I have no idea what it could be other then a lack of ink. The picture is very un-focused, and it is not really clear

Do you have the originals of these stamps so you could rescan? Also show them in their original colors as I think the under inking will be much clearer.

The upper stamp is a penny red and I think would look normal for the plate if displayed in red. The lower stamp looks like a penny black and looks more likely to have occurred with the cancel mark.

These plates were used to print a lot of stamps. They wear down during use, as the recess-printing process requires pressure to press the paper into the recesses holding the ink to pick up that ink. The turned background means that there are many 'ridges' on the plate.

The consequences of plate wear can be seen on stamps from plate 1 before hardening that tend to have a greyish and not black colour.

Damage is common. Often it is repaired quickly and, therefore, not constant or unplated.
Other than that, if you are looking at a stamp that is between 150 and 182 years old and has been used, the surface may be damaged.

As I suggested before: make your posts SMART. Do not let us guess what you want to know, but provide some understandable background to your question: put it in perspective.
Vague scans in black and white of unplated stamps are not helpful.
Also, consider the SG Specialised Catalogue and British philatelic research are the standard for these stamps. It is unclear whether 'screwdriver mark' means you think someone used a screwdriver to damage the plate or it is a terminology used in a catalogue that is not the 'standard' for these stamps.

The four closeup images are essentially worthless when taken completely out of their context.
Scans of the entire stamps need to accompany the closeups.
Otherwise, not much reason to continue this thread.

Is it possible for a stamp to change appearance in different lighting, not colour or shades, but characteristics?
