Is there any value in such a cancellation?
Is there any more detailed information about this cancellation?

Thanks guys,
not really in my usual stamp focus, but I like to add pages to "spice up" my Albums.

At $3.95 I could not let these pass... makes a nice addition B.o.b.

Rod,

The top one WHW = Winterhilfswerk. Search for "EIN VOLK HILFT SICH SELBST" in the following link:

https://www.postautomation.de/freim...volkswagens/

also

https://www.philastempel.de/stempel/zeigen/326264

Many possibilities: Wieden, Wielen (Bavaria) or Wiechs (Baden Wuerttemberg), Wieren (Niedersachsen).

Yours has the circular date stamp to the left. Maybe from a second cancellation strike?

Rod,

Sorry I'm late to the party.

The first one is Bochmann MS269 (click to enlarge).

It's a machine cancel, and the text is WHW Ein Volk hilft sich selbst, which roughly translates as Winterhilfswerk, A nation helps itself. The Winterhilfswerk (Winter Relief Program) was ostensibly an annual charity program, though there are significant doubts as to where the money actually went. Yours is from Weimar and is the B variety in Bochmann, meaning the circular cancel is to the left.

The second one is Bochmann MS313 (click to enlarge).

It's a machine cancel, and the text is Helft der Jugend Heime bauen!, which roughly translates as Help the youth build homes! It's also the B variety. There were only two locations that used this cancel, Reichenberg and Wien (Vienna).

Many thanks, Postmaster.
Your images make for an easier Album Page for me.
I shall attribute Bochmann in the text.

Hope you were successful in getting you 1200dpi images.

Rod,

That is a cancel from Apia, Samoa.

Here is the listing in Friedemann which contains an explanation.

And here's the listing from the ArGe Kolonien's cancel catalog:

The cancel is only known used either without a stamp as a cash franking or on MiNr. V24 b, which is the 20 Pfennig forerunner (German stamp used in the colonies before introduction of colony-specific postage).
