I found a peculiar stamp. I have no idea what it's worth or if it has historical significance. 25 Cent Power of Attorney stamp, it has george washington (I believe) in the middle, it's shape is long and vertical. (2 average small stamps ontop of eachother)

Exact Writing (From top to bottom)

UNITED STATES
TWENTY FIVE CTS.
25
(Picture of washington)
25
POWER OF ATTY.
INTER.REVENUE

It's also used, stamped with: 'American Watch Co. Dec 3 186' (Can't see the bottom half of this part.)

Could anyone point me in the right direction?

Sounds like a US Revenue Scott # R48c Value around .50 cents. If it is perforated all around.

The 2nd one you described sounds like R78 and if is is perforated all around is valued around $1.60 - $2.90.

Most of these can be found under the US Revenues category in the Scotts Specialized catalog. Your local library should have one in their reference section

Is this same type? Some sites showed it selling or listing for a lot of $$$. I wonder what's difference. Check out here: http://www.usphila.com/us/stamp/pri...t-r47-page-1

What do you see different between your stamp (?) that you show above and the stamps in the link?

Hints: The stamps in the link are "Life Insurance" revenues and are not perforated on all four sides.
