This thread represents a minor postmark oddity from my collection: a spray-on postmark that distinctively omits the year. I have several examples from November 4, 2021 that lack the year.
Characteristics of these yearless postmarks:
- The gap between "NOV" and "PM" is smaller than normal, thereby providing insufficient space for the year's normal placement.
- I presume the final digit of the postmark references machine number "7". However, I do not know why it is preceded by the letter "O" on this particular date.
- Typically postmarks end with the letter "L", which is also omitted on this particular date.

This topic is unrelated to my other thread, "
Extinction Of Non-Spray Cancels, Minneapolis Lacks The Year", which relates to the older postmark machine(s) of Minneapolis that coincidentally also omit the year.
I am not a postmark expert. Thus, I welcome anyone to chime in with further knowledge, analysis, or similar quirks.
