The First Boer War, 1880–1881, also known as the First Anglo–Boer War, the Transvaal War or the Transvaal Rebellion, was a war fought from 16 December 1880 until 23 March 1881 between the United Kingdom and Boers of the Transvaal. Wikipedia |

Further information on the various penny reds from their Inception to the final printings can be found on this Warwick and Warwick guide, covering almost 40 years of its production. https://www.warwickandwarwick.com/n...stamps-guide Definitely worth a read if you are interested in the line engraved stamps of Great Britain. Quote: catalogs sometimes show the number is along the long axis of the diamond These will be London Chief Office duplex cancels or early machine (ie: Pearson Hill, Charles Rideout) cancels. |

I forgot to mention earlier of another aspect relating to the penny red plates of 1858 - 1879 in that some of them can be found with under-prints or even over prints in some cases. Here is a guide to the different types of protective prints that have been used in the past. > http://www.underprints.com/Philatel...erprints.htm These special prints can enhance the value of this particular issue if found, so keep a beady eye out for them. @ Wilding mad , I will check this site because yes iwhile I check for water mark I feel some stamps had another shadow of draw under the print but not a water mark I am not sure this is just illusion or real so you guide me to care about this in future. |

Here are some examples of under-prints found on mint Victorian stamps, these under-prints were made on top of the existing gum. Therefore once they had been stuck down on an envelope and sent through the post some of the printing will inevitably disappear when the stamp is removed, leaving only traces of the original print in some cases. Happy hunting, WM |

first I had a question ,did what I did with this stamp is right the number in cancelation didnt complete but there is a part of the circular cancallation of the duplex with the word THAMES , so I use my lovely probability to complete the missed info I think the complete word is RIVER THAMES on the circle then it is a county that the river pass on it then I search only 9 counties that the river pass by them then I checked one county by another for post office with number begin with 42 I found only two counties which is kent Newenden with number 429, and Glocestershire Kingscote with number 423 ,then I choose that the right is Glocestershire Kingscote with number 423 for the reason that the period of the cancellation for Kingscote is 1844-1906 while that for Newenden is 1844-1857 so I excluded it. SO MY Question is that what I did is right. |

did what I say about this cancellation is right or wrong for this cancellation is it right to dedicate type of cancellation from the part shown as I do here I choose it is horizontal oval duplex. is what I choose for this cancellation is right as there is two letteres "NO" the last of a word on the part shown of the circle cancellation so I checked and choose it is B47 Llandudno(Carn) |

Mottaz I think you have got things slightly mixed up.
Geographically you are ok with Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales, but you appear to be allocating the England and London cancels together when in actual fact they are completely different.
I suggest you treat your London cancels separately from your English town ones to simplify matters.
However the way that you want to sort them out is completely up to you ! WM |
