First submission on Forum. My apologies. This is a scan of a Z grill on an 85E, a stamp certified by PF. Difficult to count points with the central gap, but it appears to be 14 by 18 points. Tried using the earlier suggested technique of angled lighting from a corner. Some horizontal ridges stand out. |

Would you mind posting the PF Certificate sandman? That tends to reduce the number of "it doesn't look like it to me" posts since it appears the top/bottom is oriented side to side, a 90 degree turn. Also in this case, the game becomes verifying the Cert looking at the "known" grill. As an aside, it is cool my thread pulled your second post on the SCF. |

hello Parcel.
Scanned Cert. Reduced to 117 kb. This system rejected picture as too large.
Will try again tomorrow when I can get someone to look over my shoulder |

Congratulations - a nice sound stamp.
I guess I never posted the results of that blue checkerboard cancel stamp on this thread - It went to Bill Crowe for certification along with all my D and Z grills. They all came back as genuine. This particular one came back genuine, just noting the shorter perfs on the left. |

RLSNY - That is great news for you! That blue cancel is really cool. Does anyone know where it was used? |

Sandman, it would be interesting to see the front of the non-85C. The experimental grills for the 3c stamp are found only in the dull rose shade, so the color of the stamp could have been another clue as to whether it could have been a Z grill or not.
Hope this is helpful, Ray |

Thank you all for participating in this discussion as I find it most informative. There is a lot of information in a very condensed thread which is most interesting.

![]() here is the face of the "85C" as requested. I did not find an exact color match in White's Color Encyclopedia. Perhaps close to a brown red. |
