Cannot access, made a complaint, advised solution may be up to 45 days.

Any other similar payment facilities recommended?
Want to stick it up them.

I have earned my paypal 10 year gold cup, or some other rubbish
never had an issue before.

Everything is a scam, looked at an eBay "Sarawak postmarks" catalogue
"buy it now $5"
I click on the link and it's something like $28
Sheesh.

When eBay implemented its own payment system, I simply reverted to existing debit and credit cards for both eBay and other purchases (the little Paypal piggybank from eBay sales having emptied). I preferred elements of the Paypal system, but I can live without it.

Hi Rodney,
Sorry to hear of your frustration, no one needs this kind of heartburn.

Lock outs typically occur when log in attempts fail X number of times; and these often take 24 hours to clear and reset. Getting a human, as opposed to using an automated online contact form, also often helps to expedite resolution. Since it appears that you have used an automated online contact, patience might be need.

I would try to not get frustrated in the first 24 hours and give them time to reset the account lock. In the meantime, I would try to figure out what caused the account lock so I could avoid this in the future. If resolution is not at hand within 24 hours, I would call them and try to talk to a human.
Don

Cheers Don :)
I don't usually like to whinge, this really got under my bonnet,
I find it a bit like that insidious thing, of modern relationships "Ghosting"

These companies are all too friendly when they want your money.

I am one of those weird fellows that, owe no one any money,
I pay my bills within 24 hrs of receipt, I pay my power bills a year in advance.
I have had Paypal for 10 years, not one single interuption,
Then you get locked out, with no option to find out why.

To hang on to a phone, whilst thay play their insidious recorded self promotion,
for long waits, then get hung up on, test the patience of Job.

Just today, a woman experienced the same as I, with TELSTRA
Australia's largest telco, she waited 50 hours, on call, without response.
It is now televised.

One cannot get through via email, your taken in a circuit loop,
that gets back to phoning.

I'll report on progress.

I was prompted for TFA a few days ago because of "suspicious activity" but that went fine. Was never locked out.

Gee, rod222, PayPal locked me out of your account as well. What was the correct password? I never quite got it right.

Seriously, until you learn an answer you may very well have been protected by the lockout.

Transaction servicers have ways to protect themselves from fraud and as an afterthought, you the client. We can't be aware of all the behind the scenes issues. For example my credit card was blocked and I was issued another due to the "use" of said card at a gas station two US states away. Okay, how that occurred was an interesting but unsolved riddle for me as I returned to normal life. Nearly a year later, my "new" credit card was blocked and reissued due to an attempted use at the same little gas station two states away. Still no explanation given but due to my professional background I have my well informed ideas. Likewise I purchase gas locally at a station which has a history of prior scamming issues. They took great efforts to protect against that going forward. However, one of my credit cards will still not allow me to use it at the "pay at the pump" card reader. It requires that I must use the card in person with the person inside who mostly sells the mini-market items (they no longer take cash for gas purchases). Thus while it is a fraud protection, I stopped using that card for my gas so I could pay at the pump.

I hope you get a speedy positive outcome rod222 and perhaps learn of the underlying trigger.

Thanks, PPG that makes sense.
I have cooled down, I still can pay OK,
I made a donation 2 days ago and passed without hitch.
I just cannot access and read my account online.

With Paypal (Australia) I renewed another password OK
when I try to log on using that password, it wants my phone number
I type that in, and it returns "invalid phone number"
then hangs.

I thought overnight, I could buy an Aussie Australia Post prepaid card
and ditch Paypal.

Yikes! gets 1 star from 10, complaints everywhere, and I thought I had problems

As a victim of identity theft, I can attest that fraud/scamming/thieving/scumbaggery in general is off the charts and these institutions are getting hammered. Just yesterday I squashed yet another account that was opened in my name with TD Bank. My information was stolen by China years ago in the OMB hack of personnel records related to classified/secret clearance paperwork. You can imagine the depth of personal data in those forms. The hackers have millions of peoples detailed info right down to your high school friends.

If you do not have a serious privacy watch service you really need to get one. You will be shocked at the extent that your info is available on the dark web. I promise you that it absolutely is. Mine has been stolen in addition to the OMB hack close to 50 times in other breaches from hotels to shopping sites. Your info is not safe and sound. Period. And no doubt somebody tried to do funny stuff with your Paypal account.

Me too. I had at least 4 separate security clearance applications stolen in that breach. I changed every security question answer on all my financial accounts to fake answers just to prevent mis-use of background info going all the way back to my high school days over 30 years ago. Now I just have to remember what my fake answers were...

Postmaster - I never heard that anything ever came from that hack in the way of sanctions etc..

These thefts are the gift that never stops giving. In the past year I have dealt with bad guys applying for an SBA loan, opening five different bank accounts, trying to get a car loan from CarMax including credit checks being run on my report, getting payday loans etc. all using my ID. It became a full time job dealing with it all and the institutions and companies make it time consuming and difficult to do. It is harder to clear it up than it is for the crooks to create the accounts. Companies like PayPal are becoming more proactive by shutting down access when an anomaly is detected but they do not assign anywhere near the staff to respond to human contact. I spent untold hours in automated phone systems and being transferred from one person to another after more endless waiting and disconnections. Once you are able to deal directly with a bank for example they seem to be interested but getting to that person seems deliberately complex and meant to make you give up. Bank of America is one of the worst. I gave up trying to talk to them after about 20 hours of trying. I think that you just need to get legal counsel and they bet on most people giving up first.

One lesson learned is that everyone should keep their credit locked at the very least and unlock it as necessary.

Good friend worked for years as senior manager over a group handling major account fraud for a large payment processor - a never-ending battle of whack-a-mole is how he described it. Eventually burned him out and he left for a lower stress position elsewhere.

Since my last post, I spent 4 hours with the US IRS (Internal Revenue Service) proving I am me for a tax return year due to someone trying to file for a refund in my name for that tax year and the year prior. Fraud is everywhere. I don't know if this was precipitated by my information being stolen from a credit bureau a couple of years back, a 3rd party data breech of my "hidden" state drivers license information, or the theft of my W-2s (US income reporting documents) from my mailbox. In any case the IRS picked up some warning and did me a favor with the human who helped me on the phone as nice and professional as can be. Yes, the phone as it was screwed up enough on-line couldn't fix it.
