Hello group,
As the title says, I'm starting over again from scratch. As a teenager I had a pretty good collection. My father was a captain in the US merchant marine fleet and traveled all over the world picking up stamps for me whenever he could. In 1957 I joined the navy and when I returned home found that my younger brother had traded my collection for whatever he could get. My loss.
I started my career, got married, raised a family and retired. My wife passed away in March of this year and as we did everything together her passing left a huge void in my life. I don't know how it happened, but I've been bitten by the stamp collecting bug and that's a good thing.
My reason for joining this forum is to learn as much as I can since I am basically a brand new collector.
Thanks for letting me into this group.
Take care, stay safe and healthy,
toebig (really Tom)

Tom, Sorry to hear of your loss. Remember the good times you two shared. Now, let's make some more. Better late than never returning to the hobby. Collecting for the enjoyment of collecting, whatever that might be, is the name of the game. Don't hesitate to ask questions especially if you need basic information and especially more advanced sources of information for any possible topic. You should be able to find folks on this board a little further along on their collecting journey glad to share experiences. Wishing you many enjoyable future days in our hobby. Russ |

First of all, thank you to those that expressed sympathy for the loss of Carolyn. We are both Christians, so I know where she is.
Some of you asked if I'm getting active and growing my collection. I am in a new learning curve for me. It's been many many years since I quit collecting and believe me, I've already seen so many changes. That's the fun of it for now, it's like when I first started.
Thanks again for the friendly welcome.

Yes, welcome back to the hobby and my condolences for your recent loss.
I do advise you keep track of your little bother. Perhaps he is willing to get you some supplies as reparations for offloading your original collection for his gain. |

My condolences on your loss.
I retired about 2 years ago and rediscovered my passion for stamp collecting after a hiatus of 30+ years. It has been wonderful getting reacquainted with this great hobby! I'm sure you'll really enjoy it again.
Best wishes to you, Mike |
