When you compare the length of the Nile (4,100 miles) with that of the Suez canal (120 miles) it is quite petite in size, but nevertheless the canal is essential, as it is a major shortcut to the continent of Europe and beyond bringing goods from the far East by sea.

THE RIVER JORDAN

Thanks, Wilding, for sharing the Jordan River stamps. Although very narrow and short river, it is a very important religious place especially in Christianity.

I think that the last Israeli SS you posted, King Solomon's ships, shows a port on the Mediterranean Sea, not Jordan River. The river probably never used as a transport line, sure not for big ships.
