See the pyramids across the Nile. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The blue and white Nile converge at the city of Khartoum, in Sudan. Here's what Wikipedia had to say on the subject. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Nile When you compare the length of the Nile (4,100 miles) with that of the Suez canal (120 miles) it is quite petite in size, but nevertheless the canal is essential, as it is a major shortcut to the continent of Europe and beyond bringing goods from the far East by sea. Here are various maps of Egypt courtesy of orangesmile, that shows both the Nile and the Suez canal to its east. https://m.orangesmile.com/travelgui...try-maps.htm Back in 1868 4 stamps were issued for the Suez canal. Here's the top value of the set of 4. > This next article was compiled by the Egypt study circle that gives the relevant information regarding these stamps. http://egyptstudycircle.org.uk/stamps/suez.html And finally the 2014 stamps commemorating the new Suez canal. |

The Seine is a 777-kilometre-long river in northern France. Its drainage basin is in the Paris Basin covering most of northern France. It rises at Source-Seine, 30 kilometres northwest of Dijon in northeastern France in the Langres plateau, flowing through Paris and into the English Channel at Le Havre. Wikipedia. |

Thanks, Wilding, for sharing the Jordan River stamps. Although very narrow and short river, it is a very important religious place especially in Christianity. I think that the last Israeli SS you posted, King Solomon's ships, shows a port on the Mediterranean Sea, not Jordan River. The river probably never used as a transport line, sure not for big ships. Here is SS issued by Israel commemorates the 19th century exploration of the Jordan valley, Jordan river and the Dead sea in the Holy Land. It shows an old maps of the river on background of old etchings. |
