PMGS Reveal was a stopgap application I threw together when RetroReveal went down the first time. It was really rushed in its development, so it's buggy (like the artifacting/distortion at times). It's more limited than the website because the image manipulation software I used doesn't have as many filtering options as the website now does (or it does, but I haven't figured out how to make them all work). |

Postmaster-- I was just able to determine the city name, Pointe-a-Pitre on a beautiful, but not dark SOTN cancel on a classic Guadeloupe stamp. Very nice, and thanks so much for making this available!

Thank you! I just tried your image enhancement software and made a small donation.
I saved the images I wanted and don't need the rest. Since RetroReveal never cleared its old images, storage was a problem. May we assume that our images are deleted after processing? |

PostmasterGS, thank you a ton for picking this up. I was literally going nuts not being able to check for cleaned cancels on some suspect mint stamps. The software worked great!!
Sent a donation but it would be helpful to know what it's going to cost you after a few months down the road and hopefully people will see the cost and donate, at least those of us who use it and used retro-reveal.
Thank you again!! From just me, I appreciate it very, very much!! |

Never tried retro reveal before, but gave this several spins and find it priceless!!! A link to this in Stamp Smarter would be really helpful to
I like your thought about downloading the entire image set with one button (or selecting those you wish to download and then downloading).
Only other suggestion I would have is hourglass or other acknowledgement once you click "Process" so you know its "thinking".
Also if anyone has the experience about which filter(s) produce the best image(s) for detecting postmarks, thins, grills, watermarks, etc..., a help file or document on best practice use would be excellent.
This seems to be valuable for so many purposes!!! THANK YOU - Jim

Just uploaded a test-stamp to Postmaster's version of RR. I used a scan that I 2016 and used Retro Reveal to try and see its postmark. I actually think this new version may be BETTER than the original! KUDOS! His site is now in my FAVORITE folder...
Now, I think I read around here the technology to work this magic is NOT proprietary? Don't want Postmaster to get in any trouble! ;-) |

The RetroReval code is open source, but I didn't use it because it uses ImageJ to do the image processing and I prefer IMagick. Postmark-Reveal is made from scratch. |

Just a heads-up that Postmark Reveal will be a little sporadic over the next week or so. I've moving all my websites to a dedicated server, and it'll be up-and-down until everything's moved and reconfigured. |

A big thank you for keeping the service running. Using it was able to pull more than a few postmarks up from the weeds. Are you able to track to see how often it's being used? pat |

I added a new feature to Postmark Reveal today. You'll now have the option of bulk downloading some or all of the resulting images. You can select/deselect all images using the buttons at the top, or individually select images using the checkboxes under the images. Then click the Package Selected button to package them up and the Download Package button to download them -- this is a two-step process because it's considerably easier to code that way. |
