Among his 5 children was Caroline Lydia Gerrish, 1848–1898, whose name can be seen at the top front of the document.

The surrounding censuses list his occupation as Master Builder (1860) or House Builder (1870). He was evidently a wealthy man, with the census showing his he had real property valued at $528,250 (1860) / $1.2M (1870), with personal property in the amounts of $6,500 (1860) / $25,000 (1870).

Matching transactional usages were only required for the first several months following the implementation of taxes on October 1, 1862. There was such an outcry from business owners at having to stock a myriad of different types of stamps as well as denominations, that this requirement was removed, with the exception I believe of Proprietary and Playing Cards types in December 1862.

Many collectors seek out EMUs (early matching usages) from 1862 through mid-1863 where the stamp type matches the transaction in question (this document is not one; I'm providing context).

Overlapping the stamps like this was nominally illegal but generally accepted.

I would leave it as is. It's a very unusual amalgam of stamps on a single document, even if the placement and cancels are not initially aesthetically appealing. Beyond that, all of the stamps in question are extremely common, so finding alternative examples for an album should not prove difficult.
