good day to you all, guy im just looking for a second opinion on my stamp, you see I had it for a very long time , but now that I been going trough my stamp collection I have noticed that it has grills, but im finding it very difficult to see. i have tried soaking it in water and fluid, it can be seen then,,just barely. let me know what you guys think, thank you @All
this is typical for most of the stamps in that set. the grills were very lightly impressed. since there is no need to count points or see the shape for id purposes, do nothing. oblique lighting wirh a good glass can help. see also the stampsmarter.org website.
hey guys Thanks @Petert4522 @m and m. yes I read that the Grills were not punched heavy on this issue only after I posted , did I find that out. thanks again
Any amount of grill seen makes the stamp a 112 and NOT the more expensive, no grill, special printing version. This is why some faint grills are worked on to make them even less noticeable in hope of being passed off as the special printing.
I have a Sc #113, used with no visible grill, even under a microscope. But since it is used I don't even bother getting a cert. Had it been unused with gum I most certainly would have!
There could be more than one sheet pressed at a time when grilled, the underlying sheet(s) will have a weaker impression. In addition to this, these grills are easily pressed out when soaked.
