It looks like this man targeted mail that looked like greeting cards.
I have seen this from other articles about such thefts.
Be careful when mailing a gift in a greeting card.
Just trying to be helpful.

According to the accused's attorney he was actually performing a public service by searching for gift cards and certificates that would have potentially caused harm to the recipient. This would occur when the gift was for establishments such as chain restaurants that could contribute to obesity or in the case of some retail cards for certain apparel stores could be considered to be non-gender neutral and lacking in equity.
