Could Someone Provide An Approximate Value Of These Two Stamps?

I see sometimes they are offered for sale together. I inherited these from a serious collector

Are they identified? Likely scott #3 and #4 (if authentic) or their proofs. You need to find out which and see if you have certificates for them. Are they "Never Hinged"? Proper identification and whether certified or not will determine the value.

My guestimate of approximate street value: $600-800.

Okay, there are no certificates, but just a hand note that they are Reproductions. I'm not even sure what that means. Anyway, Thank you!

One last question is there a broker who anyone could recommend who would review a large collection? There were many books left to me and my interest would be to get an appraisal. Thanks again!

Well, there are official "reprints" of these, and then there are fakes/forgeries/modern reproductions. These appear to be the official reprints, but the pictures are not of high enough quality to tell. You'd need good 1200dpi scans of the stamps to really tell (scanner).

Do you have a picture of the first 5-10 pages (oldest) of the U.S. stamps? What are the labels for each of the books?

There are several large auction houses in the Northeast and also stamp dealers who can appraise your collection. Look at the Stamp Auction Network site for the names and contact info for many of the auction houses.

Unless it is a serious (valuable) collection, they'll probably have a glance and just let you know its not worth the cost/time of a complete appraisal.

Are they reprints or reproductions. The post office reprinted U.S. #1 and #2 for sale at the Centennial Expo. Those have some value. However, you can get on eBay right now and buy reproductions. Those are essentially worthless. You really need to know exactly what you've got.

I find it odd that a "serious" collector would be so ambiguous about labeling/describing items that have the potential to be worth many hundreds of dollars or almost nothing.

I also have several other books of stamps. For instance, I have The White Ace Historical Album (2 volumes), with several stamps filled in prior to 1933. But, from about page 20 on to the end page 81, every stamp is in its place. It is like a historical record, pretty impressive. I'm just trying to figure out what to do with these, longer term. I retired a few years ago but have no dependents.

Otherwise, suggestions may be to go to a club to get an idea of the valuation, or go to an auction house, or donate. In any case, once you do some better scans (not photos), we can assist.
