Just got this email.....................

The PF is Moving!

The Collectors Club is closing its clubhouse this month in preparation for the sale of its 19th century townhouse. Having shared space in that building for nearly five years, the PF will be moving to new office space in midtown Manhattan on or about August 29, 2022. Our new office is located at 353 Lexington Avenue, Suite 804 at the southeast corner of East 40th Street. Our telephone number remains the same as does our zip code, 10016. To facilitate a smooth and orderly move into our new office, submissions should not be sent to our office at The Collectors Club for receipt after August 24. Submissions to our new Lexington Avenue office should not begin until August 30.

#65279;We look forward to continuing to bring the most authoritative and reliable opinions to our friends in the philatelic community from our new office. Please feel free to contact our Executive Director, Larry Lyons, with any questions you may have regarding submissions during this period of transition.

Anybody know if this a temporary location or is it the new "permanent" home for the PF?

My understanding is that it is permanent. Or as permanent as office space ever is.

Yes. Why, are you planning to bring lunch there?

Oh there is. If you've ever worked in a shared office/breakroom environment, there's always "that guy" (or girl) who insists upon warming up the most "interesting" lunches in the community microwave. Not only does it make for an aromatic presence throughout the office, but amazingly after a short period of time no one else wants to use the microwave.

Rog is that guy.

I have not heard of that situation arising at the PF. Wouldn't want to destroy any gum.

Sad to see that old place close down. I attended a Collectors Club meeting there once and it is super impressive - philatelic history and decor everywhere - and a massive library.

As I have said before, I have spent 52 years going there for one reason or another. It's very depressing.

Rev - Did the building have an elevator or was that a part of the problem?

It has an elevator from 1 to 4; it's a 5 story building. That was not the problem. But there is a flight of stairs, small but necessary to get to the elevator.

i also spent 50+ years going to that place.
rogdcam tro answer your question it does, but there are stairs in the lobby in order to access it.
the building is a McKim Mead and White designed structure and is designated as a NYC land mark . I believe this included the lobby and interior areas. major renovations would require bringing it up to current code and would involve jumping through hoops, high costs and might not be possible due to the the land mark status.
edited to correct spelling and grammar..
