Hi gang this is my first proper post so please be gentle with me lol
Sort of inherited a huge amount of first day covers and coins. This is not my preferred hobby so I will be looking to pass all this collection on at some point
Then again I may be lured into it as the art work is beautiful and they are so interesting......
My question is about the Benham fdc
I notice that most have a 5000 print run but I do have some that have 250/500/2000 print runs
So would the 250 ones be worth more
And full sets be more desirable I presume
Its taken me ages to organise just 1 box
Really enjoying it thought
Gaz

Hello, Gaz, and welcome!

As with many collectibles, it depends. Generally, if scarcity alone is the basis of valuation, then yes, the 250 print run example will be more highly valued than the 5000 print run. But there are other factors to consider as well, including desirability (demand) and if the topic has cross-hobby collectibility. Also, if autographed, may have additional value. So, it goes back to - it depends.

For 300 Benham Silk plus 170 small Silk covers. That is less than 50p a piece.
Benham has been marketing these series as special items that would add value.

ebay's "Sold items" category may give you some help with realised prices for specific items.

"That is less than 50p a piece."

I would guess 25c-50c each if sold in a group in a US based auction.

Visiting a meeting of a local stamp club may be an idea:

http://miltonkeynesphilatelicsociet...k/index.html

You might want to post some pictures of what you have. Presently, you are making this some kind of guessing game. Every time you get a reply, you provide some more information remarking that is not what you have.

What you now describe are not FDCs, but PNCs. Prices will depend on which coin is included. You can search the UK site of Ebay for "Benham Coin Covers." E.g.:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/13415744...9SR_jgq6bVYA

Many of these are also signed by celebrities. Signatures can also influence the value.

Note that what is being asked must not necessarily be what you can get for these. Some of these listings are ancient and show how difficult selling them can be.

Or if you drive, you could take your collection to Warwick & Warwick for a valuation. They also sell coins.

Tony Buckingham "Collect Benham (Silk) Covers" is much like SG's "Collect British Stamps." Tony Buckingham was Benham. It is a list of prices he asked for his covers. It is, in no way, representative of what the covers will be worth.

Indeed,
that goes for most stamp catalogues, where prices are merely a "suggestion"

The auctioneer's hammer is the price guide.

Take this $2,800 collection with opening price of $200
Occurring on 3rd September, here in Perth

I'll post the sale price.
(8 Binders with slipcases) 400 Matching covers !

:Nothing on that link that resembles what I have..."

Then you need to supply is with some pictures of what you do have so we don't have to just guess. A range of years would also be useful.
