Hello everyone! I've been a member of the Coin Community Forum for several years and have occasionally 'dropped by' to look at the Stamp Forum. Eventually I decided to join! I started collecting stamps and coins as a kid in my native England shortly before the introduction of decimal currency: my idea was to save as complete a collection of the old coins as I could and to get a complete set of the new stamps from the first issue, hoping that one day they might become valuable... Well, in the case of British decimal stamps, I was disappointed, but I still collect them, although I gave up on first day covers and prestige stamp books years ago! Apart from GB, I have quite a big New Zealand collection, some of which was passed down by my paternal grandfather who was chief postmaster in Dunedin in the 1940s. I developed a liking for line-engraved French stamps while living in that country in the 1970s, and I have a big general collection. I seldom add to it nowadays, but often buy a few current stamps from the post office if I visit a foreign country (and I've been to about 100 of those!) Thematically I like stamps with cats, trains, buses, windmills and modern cruise ships!

NumisRob,

Collecting for the enjoyment of collecting, whatever that might be, is the name of the game. Don't hesitate to ask questions especially if you need basic information and especially more advanced sources of information for any possible topic. You should be able to find folks on this board a little further along on their collecting journey glad to share experiences.

Wishing you many enjoyable future days in our hobby. Russ

Welcome (back) to SCF.

I am sure you have already found this board to be a place where with all the subjects discussed here, one could easily be tempted to branch off into another area or thematic collection.

Looking forward to your participation on this side in future.

Hi NumisRob & welcome to the forum. I am the opposite to you. I have had a short hiatus from this form because I 're-started' collecting coins as well. While I collect only Canadian and American coins I do come across the odd coins from other countries as well.

i am trying to find out as much as I can about coins, even if my main hobby is still stamps

Are you familiar with "Christopher Collects" and "Coin Patrol" on YB& I have found a lot of good information from them plus others who post there as well. There are also Canadian ones such as "Cad Roll Hunter" and a few others as well.

I also plan to ask question in our coin forum here too.

Happy collecting

Bujutsu

Welcome .. I also do buses ... found on may non-U.S. stamps as the bus has long served as an important method of transport around the world.
