Can't speak to the overprints, but the stamps are from the 1943 Sun Yat-sen issue, or perhaps the 1948. Places to start, at least. |

Thanks. I have been told the second one is a military stamp, Scott #M7. |

first stamp: The central column reads "People's Republic" followed by a character I can't make out. It doesn't read "People's Republic Post" (in 4 characters) so I'm thinking this is not a postage stamp. EDIT: Bad thinking; it is a postage stamp. See below. The bottom inscription is "Kiangsi/Jiangxi", so this would probably make this listed under Central China if a reference can be found. The surcharge is 1$/1 yuan with a broken top to the yuan character, an interesting variety.
second stamp: The two characters read "military post", done in different styles/fonts for the Republic of China. So confirming this is Scott M7.
third stamp: The inscription reads "postal savings". So this, from the Republic of China, is another one that won't be in Scott.

Pre-1949 Chinese stamps are a rabbit hole, much like those from the Russian Civil War era. Enjoyable sleuthing, but they can take you to task, that's for sure. |

Well done, rod!
And it took a while for the light to go on, but the center column just reads "renminbi", the currency of the People's Republic. |

first one from right to left, read downwards: change to RMB (ren ming bi) one yuan This was done after the new RMB was issued (with a ratio of one new equal to 100 old RMB) in 1953. second one was stamped as millinery mail. the third one was not a post stamp, but a saving stamp. People with little money can by those low denomination stamps as a way of saving, then exchange to real bank savings when a certain amount of them were accumulated. the one you have was issued between 1942 and 1945. |
