I had sent a few messages "to staff" requesting that the post titled:
"Ebay 7-Day Auctions Are Really All 10 Second Auctions" in the online forum be deleted. It occurred to me that maybe those messages are not getting through so putting that request here. Thanks. Please delete that post.

I have previously sent you an email regarding this. We typically do not delete threads where others have taken their time to respond. If we did this, folks would not bother to respond to threads thinking they would just be removed.

I had overlooked the thread. I think it was a good thread to bring up the preview time verses the serious bidding time. And I planned to say so as well as mentioning watching an auction close with no bids (I was kept from the computer). Then when the item is relisted the bidding just takes off as if either no one saw it previously or all were waiting for the first bid from someone else. What really is interesting is when the seller keep lowering the opening each time it is relisted and after four or five relisting the item is bid up far beyond the highest and first listed opening many cycles prior.

Game theory has won several Nobel Prizes and game theory is certainly at work with some eBay bidding.

So, I agree with Don, but wished the thread was not locked as it was a good one IMHO.

I do not think I locked the thread (as far as I remember). In general, threads which discuss 'snipping' are discouraged due to an ugly experience years ago and how it negatively impacted the community. It may have been locked due to that.

That begs the question: should threads that were locked a long time ago, where the issues that originally caused the locking are long forgotten, be re-opened in order to continue relevant discussion?
