Pointe-au-Pere, on the St. Lawrence, at Rimouski, would be the likely location. But what type of cancel is this. The left hand side would have about as many letters as the right.
Of course. I guess I was hoping for a paquebot type cancel, as I knew mail arrived there by boat. Your reference provided the complete answer and is much appreciated.
Hi! A bit late on the response but I have one stamp with a clear POINTE-AU-PÈRE/FATHER POINT 1950 cancel! I saved it as my grand-mother used to live in Pointe-au-Père, right across the divers' buoy identifying the site where the Empress of Ireland lays on the bottom of the St. Lawrence River.
I'm trying to upload the picture but I'm still very new! I'll figure it out, just give me more time!
